Meeting Thursday June 4, 2015 - 11 members attended and 2 guests, LG Peter Charbonneau and Jeremy Reisch

60 year service pin and certificate was presented to Bill Joe.

25 year service pins and certificates were presented to Tony Provanzeno and Peter Valdstyn

Karen Barton and Kim Chadsey were presented with the Walter Zeller certificate with medals for their work selling 50/50 tickets at the Ottawa 67’s games for the last 10 years.

LG.Peter Charbonneau told the story about the passing of the ribbon and Firma passed on ribbons to Frank Hegyi and Nick Kaethler who have both overcome tremendous health problems.  He also advised that our district has been the largest contributor to the Eliminate Project and that 81 million dollars has been raised to-date with 40 million lives saved. 

Peter is looking for Kiwanis Clubs to support “Kiwanis Push for Change” which is a charity started by Joe Roberts supporting the homeless.  Joe Roberts himself had been homeless and hit rock bottom when he sold his shoes to buy drugs. In 11 years he went from being homeless to a successful entrepreneur.   Joe will be in Ottawa September 25 – 29, 2016.

50/50 -   Peter Valdstyn drew the one-eyed king of diamonds.  The pot now stands at $548.50.


Club News:

May 30th the Key Club garage sale was held at Rideau High School.  The proceeds will be split between the Eliminate Project and Rideau High School for scholarships.   Thank you to Karen Barton, Firma French and Brenda Reisch who volunteered at the garage sale. 

June 6th Jumpstart held a fund raiser at the Canadian Tire Store on Conventry Rd. Thank you to Hugh O’Gorman, Jim Puskas and two Rideau HS Key Club members Ayaba and James who came out to volunteer.
